Ingredients Amount / Measure Notes
  • Vegetable oil, palm kernel ‎ 1/3 tsp.
  • Garlic, raw ‎ 1 tsp.
  • Ginger root, raw ‎ 1 7/8 tsp.
  • Spices, pepper, red or cayenne ‎ 1/4 tsp.
  • Sauce, hoisin, ready-to-serve ‎ 1 1/2 tsp.
  • Soy sauce, reduced sodium, made from hydrolyzed vegetable protein ‎ 1/2 c., 1 tbsp., 1 7/8 tsp. ‎
  • Honey ‎ 1 tsp.
  • Lime juice, raw ‎ 1 tbsp., 5/8 tsp. ‎
  • Vinegar, distilled ‎ 1 tbsp., 5/8 tsp. ‎
  • Cornstarch ‎ 1 1/2 tsp.
  • Beverages, water, tap, drinking ‎ 2 tbsp., 1 5/8 tsp. ‎


INSTRUCTIONS


  • Heat vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.
  • Add minced garlic, minced ginger, and crushed red pepper. Cook and stir about 1 minute. Be careful not to let garlic burn.
  • Stir in soy sauce, hoisin, honey, lime juice, and vinegar.
  • Combine cornstarch with water to make a slurry the color of heavy cream.  Whisk in slurry to simmering sauce, stirring constantly until sauce thickens.  Remove from heat and reserve for use.
